File Hash Checker
Calculate SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 or SHA-1 checksums and verify downloads.
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
About the File Hash Checker
The Freemium.Tools file hash checker calculates the SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 or SHA-1 checksum of any file and compares it with the value published by the download source.
A checksum is a fingerprint. If the value you calculate matches the one on the download page, the file arrived complete and unaltered; if it differs by a single character, something is wrong with it.
Drop one file or several. Paste the expected checksum and the match is confirmed or denied immediately, so you know before you run an installer whether it is the file the publisher shipped.
How to use it
- 1Choose the algorithm. SHA-256 is the modern standard published by most download pages.
- 2Drop your files. Hashing runs on your device using the browser's built-in cryptography.
- 3Compare. Paste the published checksum to confirm the file matches exactly.
Frequently asked questions
What does a mismatch mean?
The file is not byte-for-byte identical to the published one: an interrupted download, the wrong version, or in rare cases a tampered file. Download it again from the official source.
Why is MD5 not offered?
MD5 is broken for verification — different files can be made to share an MD5 hash — so browsers do not provide it and it should not be trusted for integrity.
Is my file uploaded to be hashed?
No. The browser's own cryptography engine reads the file locally, so installers, archives and private documents never leave your machine.
Can I hash several files at once?
Yes. Drop a batch and every file gets its own checksum, and any file matching the expected value is highlighted.
