About the Password Generator

The Freemium.Tools password generator creates strong random passwords and memorable passphrases using your browser's cryptographic random number generator, never transmitting them.

Reused and guessable passwords are behind most account takeovers. A long, random, unique password per account is the single biggest improvement you can make.

Generate character-based passwords with the character sets you need, or word-based passphrases that are far easier to type and remember while staying strong. An entropy estimate tells you honestly how strong each one is.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose a style. A random character password, or a memorable multi-word passphrase.
  2. 2Set the rules. Adjust length or word count, and choose which character types to include.
  3. 3Copy one. Tap any generated password to copy it, then store it in your password manager.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a password be?

At least 16 characters for an important account. Length matters more than complexity: a 20-character password of mixed lowercase letters is far stronger than an 8-character one full of symbols.

Are passphrases as safe as random passwords?

Yes, when they use four or more genuinely random words. They trade a little entropy for being much easier to type on a phone or read aloud.

Are the generated passwords sent anywhere?

No. They are created in your browser with the Web Crypto random generator and are never transmitted, logged or stored.

Is this random enough to trust?

It uses crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographically secure generator, rather than ordinary pseudo-random maths.
