About the UUID Generator

The Freemium.Tools UUID generator creates cryptographically random UUID v4, time-ordered UUID v7 and Nano IDs in bulk, generated locally by your browser.

A UUID is a 128-bit identifier that can be created independently on any machine without a central counter and still be practically guaranteed unique.

Version 4 is fully random and best for general use. Version 7 starts with a timestamp, so identifiers sort chronologically — which keeps database indexes tidy when a UUID is the primary key.

How to use it

  1. 1Choose the type. UUID v4, time-ordered v7, Nano ID or a short 8-character ID.
  2. 2Set how many. Generate up to 500 identifiers at once.
  3. 3Copy or download. Copy them all or save them as a text file.

Frequently asked questions

Are these UUIDs really unique?

They use your browser's cryptographically secure random source. The chance of a v4 collision is so small it is ignored in practice, even across billions of identifiers.

When should I use UUID v7 instead of v4?

Use v7 when the identifier is a database primary key. Because it begins with a timestamp, inserts stay sequential and the index does not fragment the way random v4 keys do.

What is a Nano ID?

A shorter URL-friendly random identifier, 21 characters by default, commonly used for public links and slugs where a full UUID would be unwieldy.

Can I use these in production?

Yes. They are generated with the same secure random API server-side libraries use.

Are the generated IDs stored?

No. They are created in your browser and never sent anywhere.
