Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
About the URL Encoder & Decoder
The Freemium.Tools URL encoder percent-encodes and decodes URLs and query strings, and breaks any link down into its parts, all in your browser.
Spaces, ampersands and non-English characters break links unless they are percent-encoded. Encoding a value before putting it in a query string keeps the URL valid and prevents parameters being cut short.
The inspector view splits a link into its protocol, host, path and each query parameter so you can see exactly what a tracking or campaign URL is carrying.
How to use it
- 1Pick a mode. Encode a single value, encode a whole URL, decode, or inspect a link.
- 2Paste the URL. Drop in the address or value you are working with.
- 3Copy the result. Copy the safe URL or read the parameter breakdown.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?
Encoding a full URL preserves characters like : / ? & that give the link its structure. Encoding a component escapes them too, which is what you want for a single parameter value.
Why does a space become %20 or +?
Percent-encoding uses %20 everywhere. The + form is only valid inside a query string, which is why it appears in form submissions.
Will encoding twice break my link?
Yes. Double encoding turns % into %25, so the receiving system sees literal escape codes. Decode first if you are unsure.
Does it work with non-English characters?
Yes. Unicode characters are encoded as UTF-8 percent sequences, which every modern browser and server understands.
Is the URL sent anywhere?
No. Encoding and parsing happen locally in your browser.
