Readability Checker
Score your writing for reading ease and get fixes for long or passive sentences.
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
About the Readability Checker
The Freemium.Tools readability checker scores your writing for reading ease and reading age, then points out the long sentences, passive phrasing and jargon holding it back.
Content that scores badly for readability loses readers and ranks worse, because search engines reward pages people actually finish. Scoring a draft before it ships shows whether your audience will glide through it or give up.
Alongside the score you get concrete fixes: which habits are dragging the text down, how long your sentences run on average, and how long the piece takes to read.
How to use it
- 1Paste your draft. A blog post, landing page, email or report.
- 2Read the score. Reading ease, reading age, sentence length and reading time appear instantly.
- 3Apply the fixes. Work through the suggestions, then paste the revision back in to compare.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good reading ease score?
60 to 70 is plain English and suits most web audiences. Above 80 is very easy; below 45 usually means the piece is only comfortable for a specialist reader.
How is the score calculated?
It uses the Flesch reading ease and Flesch-Kincaid grade formulas, which weigh average sentence length against average syllables per word.
Does readability affect SEO?
Indirectly but strongly. Easier text keeps readers on the page longer and earns more shares, and both feed the engagement signals search engines watch.
Is my draft uploaded?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser, so unpublished work stays on your device.
Does it work for languages other than English?
The formulas are tuned to English syllable patterns, so scores for other languages are only a rough indication.
