About the Meta Tag Generator

The Freemium.Tools meta tag generator builds the title, description, canonical, Open Graph and Twitter card tags for a page, with live Google and social share previews and character-length guidance.

A page without proper meta tags gets a title Google rewrites and a share card that shows a bare URL. Both quietly cost clicks on every impression.

Fill in the title, description, address and share image and the complete head snippet is generated for you, including Open Graph tags for Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp and Twitter card tags for X. Counters show when your title or description is about to be truncated in search results.

How to use it

  1. 1Write your title and description. Keep the title near 55 characters and the description near 150 so neither is cut off.
  2. 2Add the page and image addresses. Use full addresses starting with https so social platforms can fetch the image.
  3. 3Copy the tags. Paste the snippet into the head section of your page, or download it as a file.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a meta description be?

Around 140-158 characters. Longer descriptions get truncated with an ellipsis in most search results; much shorter ones waste the space you are given.

What size should an Open Graph image be?

1200 x 630 pixels, under about 5 MB, served over https at a stable public address. That ratio fills the large card on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp.

Do meta keywords still matter?

No. Google has ignored the keywords tag for well over a decade, which is why this generator leaves it out.

Why does my share preview still show the old image?

Social platforms cache previews. After updating the tags, re-scrape the URL in the platform's sharing debugger to refresh it.

What does the canonical tag do?

It tells search engines which address is the master version of a page, consolidating ranking signals when the same content is reachable at several URLs.
