Frequently asked questions
Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?
The clean copy is re-encoded as a high-quality JPEG, so any change is visually imperceptible while every metadata field is gone.
Why does my photo show no EXIF at all?
Many platforms strip metadata when you upload, so an image saved from WhatsApp, Instagram or a website usually arrives already clean.
Can EXIF really show where I live?
Yes. Phone photos frequently embed GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres, which is why the location is flagged in red here.
Is my photo uploaded to check it?
No. Parsing happens inside your browser tab — sending a photo away to find out whether it is private would defeat the purpose.
Does it work with RAW or HEIC files?
The reader targets JPEG and TIFF. Convert a HEIC or RAW file to JPEG first and the metadata carried into the JPEG will be shown.
