Color Palette Extractor
Pull the dominant colours out of any photo or logo as hex, RGB and CSS.
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
About the Color Palette Extractor
The Freemium.Tools palette extractor reads the dominant colours out of any photo, screenshot or logo and returns them as hex codes, RGB values and ready-to-paste CSS variables.
Building a design around an image is far easier when you know the colours it already contains. The extractor groups every pixel into colour families, discards near-duplicates and returns the most prominent shades along with roughly how much of the image each one covers.
You choose how many colours to pull out — three for a tight brand palette, a dozen when you need a full range for illustrations or slides.
How to use it
- 1Drop an image. A photo, screenshot, poster or logo in any common format.
- 2Pick how many colours. Anywhere from three to twelve dominant shades.
- 3Copy the palette. Tap any swatch to copy its hex code, or copy the whole set as CSS variables.
Frequently asked questions
How are the colours chosen?
Every pixel is sorted into a colour bucket, the busiest buckets win, and shades too close to one already picked are skipped so the palette stays varied.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is drawn to a canvas inside your browser and the pixels are read there, so nothing is sent anywhere.
Why do the percentages not add up to 100?
They describe only the colours shown. The rest of the image is made up of shades that did not make the top list.
Does it work with transparent PNGs?
Yes. Fully transparent pixels are ignored so the palette reflects the artwork rather than the empty background.
Can I use it for brand colours?
Yes — drop in a logo and you get the exact hex codes, which is the quickest way to match an existing brand.
