About the Timestamp Converter

The Freemium.Tools timestamp converter turns a Unix epoch timestamp into a readable date in your timezone and UTC, and converts any date back into seconds and milliseconds.

Logs, APIs and databases store time as an integer count from 1 January 1970. Reading those numbers by eye is impossible, and off-by-1000 mistakes between seconds and milliseconds are common.

Paste a number or a date string in almost any format and get epoch seconds, milliseconds, ISO 8601, your local time, UTC and a plain-English relative time.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste a value. Enter a Unix timestamp in seconds or milliseconds, or any readable date.
  2. 2Read every format. Epoch seconds, milliseconds, ISO 8601, local time, UTC and relative time appear at once.
  3. 3Copy. Tap any row to copy that format.

Frequently asked questions

Is my timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?

Ten digits is seconds and thirteen digits is milliseconds for current dates. The converter detects the length automatically.

What is a Unix timestamp?

It is the number of seconds elapsed since midnight UTC on 1 January 1970, ignoring leap seconds, which gives systems a single timezone-free way to store an instant.

Does it use my timezone?

Yes. Local time is shown in your device's timezone alongside UTC, so you can compare them directly.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. All parsing and formatting happens in your browser.
